How Tritium Tubes Work
Inside each sealed glass vial, tritium excites a phosphor coating to create a steady glow. The result is always-on illumination with no battery or charging required.

Real Ti-6Al-4V — the same alloy in jet engines and surgical implants. Not coated alloy, not cheap metal. 45% lighter than steel, corrosion-proof, scratch-resistant. It won't rust from sweat, won't corrode in salt water, and won't age on your keyring.

The tritium vial sits inside a spring-loaded shock-absorbing chamber that cushions impact from every direction. In a serious drop, the outer borosilicate glass tube may shatter — but the tritium vial inside stays intact, still glowing. The spring suspension sacrifices the cheap, replaceable glass to protect the expensive tritium vial.

Yes. The tritium is hermetically sealed inside borosilicate glass, inside titanium. Beta particles cannot penetrate skin or glass. These devices are NRC-exempt in the US and legal to carry worldwide. You'd absorb more radiation from a banana.
Bright enough to find your keys, locate a lock, or spot your bag in total darkness. It's a locator beacon, not a flashlight. Green is the brightest color; purple is the most subtle.
Tritium has a half-life of 12.3 years, so after ~12 years it's at 50% brightness. After ~25 years it's still faintly visible. Most users find it practically useful for 15+ years before swapping the tube.

This key fob is actually extremely cool. If you get the green which you probably should, it is the brightest. A few people have already asked me where I got it. I plan on potentially getting another one to put on my dogs collar for added visibility at night if he somehow ever gets loose or just having a night walk. Highly recommend!
